Barley (Chinese: Yi4Mi3) is a very common and popular drink you can order at restaurants and foodcourts in Malaysia.  
Barley drink is made by boiling water with the grain, simmer until it is softened, add sugar and serve. Some places have a knot of pandan leaves together in the pot to add fragrant flavour and sweeten with candied wintermelon. 
It is a great health drink with cooling effect to our body. Although it is served both warm or chilled, I prefer chilled ones as they are more refreshing.   
Have fun trying out this drink at different places to find your favorite taste or even try making at home! I think it is better than any soft drinks out there for kids too!
